HLC Chats With Sara Cooper

Sara Cooper is a Board Member of Hope Loves Company, Founder of Cooper Creative Group, and one of our wonderful friends and supporters. In fact, Sara helped create this ALS Awareness Month Campaign! Thank you Sara for your ingenuity, intelligence, kindness, and support. We are lucky to have you serving on our BOD but even more so to have you as a friend.

(HLC): What is your favorite childhood memory?

(SC): I am blessed to have many... sitting in my grandmother's kitchen on the counter lovingly known as "Pooker's corner," watching her cook and whatever she was doing. I adored her... as an aside, she always had lipstick in a cabinet, because, well, lipstick is an "important" element. Yes, I have lipstick in my kitchen! (HLC): Camp HLC is one of our wonderful programs. Have you ever attended summer camp? If yes what was your favorite memory about camp? (SC): No. I loved being home (still do) and our neighborhood was filled with kids, so it was kind of like camp, but at the end of the day, I got to go home to my family.

(HLC): Who is your favorite musician? (SC): Hmmm, I LOVE all music... but if forced to say one... Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin (oops that's two)!

(HLC): Do you have a pet companion? If so, please share his/her name and what you love most about him/her. (SC): I am a dog rescuer... currently Pretty Baby and Rudy the Cutie. I love caring for them and they offer unconditioal love. (HLC): People would be surprised to know that....  (cool fact about you!)  (SC): I am trained chef. Beverly Mills and I founded Four Girls, an award winning catering firm.

(HLC): What is one thing you can share with others about resilience and adversity? (SC): Stay as positive as possible, have a purpose each day. I look for ways to celebrate others, it gives me meaning.

(HLC): What's your go to person, book, or movie for insipiration? (SC): My husband... today is our 16th wedding anniversary! He is the most positive person I know. (HLC): If you have a go to resource (website, blog, etc...) that you think would help others, please share it! (SC): The outpouring of love from family and friends is my continnual source of strenghth and knowledge... knowledge is power and you just never know who can help.

(HLC): Share something that you want others to know about ALS... (SC): It's scary, but that simply makes me more determined to fight and make a difference. Ask for help... people want to help.

Thank you Sara for both helping to develop and participating in our ALS Awareness Month campaign, HLC Chats With... And thank you for all that you do for Hope Loves Company and the ALS community.
